Our Aftercare Program

A client’s stay here at Station House Retreat provides a perfect jumping off point for a successful recovery. However, a solid recovery program requires a lot of hard work and several years to develop. As the client’s graduation day approaches, they will sit down with their therapist to create an aftercare plan. Therapists will help the client develop a solid list of sober supports and information on local support groups and 12-step meetings in their area. An Alumni Coordinator will remain in contact with each client. Clients and their families have the option to participate in a follow up video session with their primary therapist as well.

Aftercare Resources

Aftercare plans can include just about anything to facilitate continued recovery. Some of the most common aftercare items are local NA/AA meetings, supportive outpatient counseling, and referrals to recommended halfway houses. In general, these services are appropriate for most recovering individuals.

Here is a more comprehensive list of the potential items found in the aftercare plan:

  • AA, NA, and other 12 step meeting lists
  • Sponsors
  • Halfway Houses
  • Psychiatric Referrals
  • Transfer of medications
  • ALANON for families
  • Couples Counselling
  • Family Therapy
  • Career/Employment resources
  • Outpatient/Intensive Outpatient referrals
  • Educational resources
  • Support Groups

Goals of an Aftercare Plan

The goal of any aftercare plan is to give the client a hard copy of all the resources he/she needs that will help them maintain long-term recovery after discharging from treatment.
